At the point where all the radiation is concentrated, will a solar cell be more efficient or a heat transfer system which is linked to a steam turbine?
Due to the high temperatures, the heat transfer rate will be higher and thus efficiency will be decent. Also, the efficiency of a solar cell will decrease after a peak value with increasing radiation.
My question is, which of these options will be more viable?
Heat transfer is always more efficient. THe efficiency of solar thermal is about 75%, while the efficiency of conversion of solar cell is only 12%. In case you nhave process heat requirement, you should go for solar thermal. However generating power through solar thermal rankine cycle has its own problems.
