As per the Comprehensive Tariff Order on Wind Energy (Order No. 6 of 2012) dated July 31, 2012 by TNERC, the tariff for wind energy has been fixed at Rs.3.51/kWh. The control period for the tariff order is August 31, 2012 to March 31, 2014. In Tamil Nadu, the nodal agency for long-term open access is the state transmission utility while for short-term open access, it is the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC).
The transmission and wheeling charges for wind power in Tamil Nadu are fixed at 40% of the transmission charges and 40% of the wheeling charges as applicable to the conventional power. The wind generators also have to bear the actual line losses as specified by the regulatory commission from time to time. Cross-subsidy surcharge is 50% as that applicable for the conventional power source. The banking period is from April 1st to March 31st of the following year. The banking charges are fixed at Rs. 0.1735 Rs/kWh for FY 2013-14 as per TNERC order “Determination of Tariff for generation and distribution” dated 20th June this year.
