Plan to integrate North and South grid

Union Minister of State for Power and Coal Piyush Goyal on Saturday said that the Power Grid Corporation of India would invest Rs 30,000 crores for the improvement of transmission facilities that would enable dispatch of power from northern States to southern States. He also said that Tamil Nadu would receive around Rs 1000 crores under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana for improving the electricity network in rural areas. Also, nine towns in the State had been chosen under the Integrated Power Development Scheme for which Rs 363 crores would be sanctioned, he further said.
