Solar rates up as companies like Welspun Renewables win bid at Rs 4.41/ unit

NEW DELHI: Companies have won the latest auction of solar energy projects with a higher tariff than the record low of Rs 4.34, reversing the trend of falling tariffs, but the successful bidders are still offering a tariff lower than new coal-fired plants.

The winner in the latest tender, floated by Solar Energy Corp of India (SECI) for 500 MW of installed solar capacity in Maharashtra, quoted Rs 4.41 per unit. The lowest bid came from Bhageria Industries which offered a tariff of Rs 4.41 per Kwh
