Allotment of Solar-powered ‘Green’ Houses Gathers Pace
Chennai:Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday began allotting 38,441 solar powered ‘Green’ Houses built for Rs 807.26 crore to the beneficiaries. Two of them got the allotment orders from her at the Secretariat. She also laid the foundation for various PWD projects worth Rs 626.93 crore.The panchayat union office built for Rs 1.5 crore at Arupukottai, district panchayat offices at Tiruvallur and Virudhunagar, 21 panchayat union offices built for Rs 41.97 crore in Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tuticorin, Tiruvarur, Tiruchy, Villupuram and Virudhunagar, 87,panchayat offices constructed for Rs 10.49 crore in 29 districts, 762 village panchayat service centres for Rs 105.83 crore, 31 bridges built for Rs 38.93 crore, fish auction centres at Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Kanyakumari and Nagapattinam at Rs 2.31 crore as well as many other facilities for Rural Development Department were among those opened by the Chief Minister through video conferencing at the Secretariat.Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa also opened 700 residential quarters for government staff built for Rs 100.54 crore at Thodhunter Nagar, Saidapet. She also declared open new buildings for PWD and Finance Departments built for Rs 158.34 crore.
