Speakers at the Business Standard Smart Business conference on ‘On-site SolarPower solutions’, held in association with Nashik Industries & Manufacturers Association (NIMA), Sunshot Technology and Raychem RPG, were unanimous that solar power is today the biggest alternative source of energy.Sunshot Technologies MD & CEO Rahul Dasari said that the company’s promoters were alumni of IIM Ahmedabad with an engineering background. They could help entrepreneurs tap the power of the sun to add value to their property. He offered two business models: One in which the investor invests in a solar power plant and sells electricity on per unit basis, leading to immediate savings. In the other, the customer invests in a solar power plant and avails 100% depreciation benefits. “Online monitoring & control system (SCADA) and regular preventive maintenance help add valuable points to plant performance and system life,” he said.Raychem RPG’s senior executive Nitesh Bhutada said with Fronius and Raychem RPG coming together, the Indian market had a partner they could rely on. “It is much easier now to design, service and monitor solar power systems with Fronius string inverters,” he said. Vishwas Pathak, advisor to the Maharashtra Energy Minister, said that the state government had brought out a policy to add 14,400 MW of renewable power comprising 7,500 MW from solar, 5,000 MW from wind, 1,000 from co-generation and the balance from other renewable sources.
