The glorious story of JK Lakshmi Cement Limited (JKLC) was started in the year of 1982 at the place located in the remote area of Sirohi Rajasthan. Since its inception, JKLCL is known for its quality product. In year 2012, it was a time when JKLCL wanted to broaden its wings beyond their traditional business and ready to take its first step into the renewable energy business. FirstGreen comes in the contact with the JKLCL, when they were exploring loads of investment prepositions. After some initial discussions and presentation, FirstGreen develop the confidence of JKLCL. There onwards, FirstGreen is associated with JKLCL and advising them on every subject related to their solar investment.
We developed business plan for 25 MW solar PV plant. After considering JKLCL present business, obligation of REC, and other potential factors Rajasthan was selected as the potential state for the investment. We have conducted feasibility and thereafter prepared the Detailed Project Report. JKLCL had purchased around 160 acre of land in Bap area. It was projected in the road map that total 25 MW shall be installed in three phase. In the first phase, 6.12 MW capacity is commissioned. FirstGreen, on the behalf of JKLCL, asked proposal from the reputed EPC companies and supported JKLCL during contract negotiations. Innovative ways of implementing a solar project like de-bundling of EPC contract, self procurement of major equipments etc were proposed. Even FirstGreen assisted them to procure the crucial plant equipments. Finally to materialize the plan Mahindra EPC was identified as EPC partner.
During the project execution time, FirstGreen played a role of Owners engineer. This includes formulation of guidelines for third party assessment, support to obtain relevant permits / clearances and licenses, review all the plant drawing and calculations, innovative plant design interventions, review project progress etc. With regress efforts of JKLCL, FirstGreen and MEPC, project was successfully commissioned in the month of January 2014. Second phase is soon going to start.
