Jammu & Kashmir Solar Policy


The Himalayan state, Jammu & Kashmir has highest annual solar energy generation (750,000-800,000 KWH per acre) potential in the eastern parts. In March2014, Jammu & Kashmir government & MNRE signed MOU for implementation of solar power projects of the capacity of 7,500 MW.

Jammu & Kashmir introduced solar policy in 2013. The main objectives of policy are promoting generation of green and clean power in the state using solar energy; to meet the targets to be achieved countrywide under JNNSM.
