IGBC- SSP Mandatory Requirement 2: Soil Erosion
Intent
Control soil erosion and sedimentation, thereby, reducing negative impacts to the site and surroundings.
Compliance Options:
Implement the following measures, as applicable:
1. Soil erosion control measures taken before construction and during construction must conform to the best management practices highlighted in the National Building Code (NBC) of India 2005, Part 10, Section 1, Chapter 4 – Protection of Landscape during Construction and Chapter 5 – Soil and Water Conservation.
2. Fertile topsoil to be stockpiled prior to construction, for future reuse or donation.
3. Develop appropriate measures to address soil erosion, after occupancy
Exemplary Performance:
This credit is not eligible for exemplary performance.
Procedure for Soil Erosion
Site analysis
Site analysis should be conducted to take necessary soil erosion control measures before construction as per NBC.
Preserve top soil
Fertile topsoil should be preserved for future use or donation.
Post occupancy measures
Develop soil erosion measures post occupancy as well.
