Overview
DLF Mall of India is the first mall in the world certified with a ‘LEED Platinum’ certification from United States Green Building Council (USGBC) under Existing Building Operation and Maintenance category (EBOM). USGBC came up with stringent benchmarking of LEED certification for Retail segment under EBOM category around 8 months ago. The certification is awarded to the ones whose work is helping to expand sustainability in the retail sector. Firstgreen has acted as the green building consultant for the certification of this mall. With this Firstgreen has got credit of 38 LEED platinum certified buildings with USGBC.
- Energy efficient air-conditioning system with about 20% less energy consumption.
- Solar Power Plant of 40 KW for using solar energy
- Solar water heater with a capacity of 4000 liters to save electricity.
- Ventilation fans coupled with CO sensors in car parking.
- Pumps & fans coupled with variable speed drives to save energy.
- Sequencing batch reactor for waste water treatment with latest technology.
- Organic waste converter for wet garbage which is turned to compost for horticulture.

Registration with USGBC
The building is registered with USGBC green building certification portal
Data collection during the performance period
The building data is collected during the performance period related to energy, water, IEQ, Material, and waste management
Review of documentation by USGBC
USGBC closely review all the documentation and the credits are awarded as per their norms.
Final certification
Once all the review replies are satisfied by the USGBC review team, the building is awarded appropriate certification based on the credits approved.
